Toonpoot is the alias for the creative work by Kenny Van Wassenhove. His colorful canvases appear to be still lives with a strong graphic touch.
The artist is trained as a graphic designer; the clear lines with which he paints his subjects are clearly indebted to this. Toonpoot first makes a digital design for his paintings and only then picks up a brush. While painting, he makes subtle changes to his digital design in order to create a painting with balances in color and lining.
His subjects have a somewhat naive feel; they are isolated on a monotonous color field. They are on the one hand exercises in color and proportions, on the other hand expressions of an interpretation of the artist’s daily life, which is his main source of inspiration.
