Paul Verheul

Paul Verheul lives and works in Brussels (BE) and Groningen (NL).

The artist writes about his own work: “I approach my work in a physical and intuitive manner, creating visual hierarchies with varied patterns and surfaces. Many of my works contain a painting within a painting, or suggest hidden rooms and spaces. I seek to re-present fragmented glimpses of our shared urban perceptual experiences. Questioning the relevance of painting as a medium, I find it’s tenacity a point of anxiety and also a launching pad toward innovation and experimentation- synthesising new systems and materials to test unexplored ground and push visual boundaries.”
