Felix Hannaert knows his art history and likes to seek inspiration in classical artworks. Within the grid of colored courses, he ‘plays’ with sophisticated proportions and subtle color tonations. The use of alkyd paint allows him to change the usually matte areas of color in translucent undertones and opaque parts, sometimes additionally supported by small, subtly colored ‘shadows’ or by white and soft red stripes in satin gloss.
