Niels is a multidisciplinary artist. He paints on wood and canvas, he carves and cuts wood and performs in his self assembled installations. The dynamic rhythmic interplay of lines show the influence of music – Niels is a guitar player – hence also the repetitive actions in his work. Relief and irregularities of the wounded wood are accentuated by the traces the artist leaves during the making of the piece of art.
A tight and continuous interplay of lines, grid patterns are seemingly created by chance. Every piece has unfinished edges… All these layers have a meaning to be discovered by the viewer.
