Joseph Willaert

Joseph Willaert (1936 – 2014) was a Belgian painter known for his figurative and colorfull paintings. His large paintings were installed in train stations or public areas. Some of his art has been internationally displayed in museums. With the painting 'Muur met ladder' ('Wall with ladder'), shown at La Biennale di Venezia in 1976, Willaert painted the rural surroundings of his house in Bruges, Belgium. At the Biennale Willaert also showed video art and life-size reproductions of all the 18 windows of his house.
