Mathieu Lobelle

ยบ1966

Matthieu Lobelle starts from his sketchbook with observations and reflections that form the basis of his visual work. Sometimes a sketch (from more than 15,500 diary drawings) is elaborated into a drawing, a sculpture, a photo, a print, an installation, a painting ... In this way the artist tries to outline his struggle with life in images where he tries to investigate the boundary between life and death, the relationship between nature and culture, between past and present. These are boundaries that have been the main subject of his oeuvre for more than 20 years.
